May17 Allegheny County - Tireless Friday Cleanup of the Youghiogheny River, Session 1

Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup sponsored by Allegheny CleanWays - We will be cleaning up the Yough for three days. Please join us for one or all sessions. During session one, we will be working with Allegheny Land Trust and others to clean from the Boston area of the Yough to McKeesport. We'll have the Rachel Carson and canoes (from the Fish and Boat Commission) available. You must pre-register to use one of our canoes, but you can also bring your own if you prefer. The exact meeting place is still to be determined, but it will be in Boston. For updated information, visit the Events page at www.AlleghenyCleanways.org. As always, we'll provide music, refreshments and all necessary supplies and instructions. You supply the willingness. Special Collection or Recycling Event sponsored by PA CleanWays of Fayette County - This collection event will be held at the County Fairgrounds in Dunbar Township.  We will be collecting tires, white goods, (including refrigerators as a  licensed person will be there to take the freon), computers and electronic items, TV's, batteries, oil, antifreeze and large items that are hard to dispose of.  Tires will cost $1.50 per tire.  TV's cost $5 and there will be a $1 charge for computers. Please join us for one or all sessions. During session three, we will be working with Westmoreland Cleanways, Westmoreland Conservation District and others to clean the section of the Yough that forms the border between Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties. This is a fairly shallow section of the Yough, so we'll only use canoes (from the Fish and Boat Commission) on this one. You must pre-register to use one of our canoes, but you can also bring your own if you prefer. We'll be meeting at the boat access in Sutersville and going downstream to Buena Vista.
