Making a Difference

News Eagle - Pike County, Pa. — How do you help out?
I am presently employed by Pike County PennDOT (Department of Transportation was assigned to assist with the Adopt-A-Highway Program, being a motivated individual I want to make this program more than it is today. I believe in the importance of Not littering our roadways and am volunteering to do extra to get the available areas adopted by local groups and business owners.
I am presently planning my first promotional event on April 21, 2012 at the PPL’s Earth Day located on Rt. 6 by Lake Wallenpaupack I will have a station along with the costumed Mascot of the Litter Bug, passing out brochures and information about the Adopt-A-Highway Program and the Great American Clean-up of Pennsylvania. In hopes to inspire individuals to get involved. Volunteers become a special caretaker of two miles portions of state roads and promise to pick-up their highway segment at least four times a year. PennDOT than agrees to dispose of the garbage.
